SOUTH BEND, Ind.--On the eve of the Big East Softball Championships, Pitt's junior third baseman Jessica Dignon recorded her second consecutive All-Big East selection, as announced at the conference banquet this evening.
Dignon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) earned All-Conference third team honors for the second straight season, as she led the Panthers in batting average (.305), runs (33), hits (50), doubles (13), and slugging percentage (.421).
Rated No. 33 on the NCAAs `toughest to strikeout list,' Dignon played in and started all 57 games this season. She recorded a team-leading 12 runs and 13 RBIs in conference play, while stealing five bases in that span.
Dignon's 13 doubles on the season tied a single-season program record, while her five at-bats and four hits against Youngstown State (April 10) tied single-game records.
Pitt makes its second-ever appearance in the Big East Championships against USF on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Belleville Softball Complex.
