PITTSBURGH--Pitt's senior pitcher Meghan Bostick was garnered Big East Weekly Honor Roll accolades, as announced by league officials. This is Bostick's second recognition from the Big East this season and the Panthers fifth of the year.
"Meghan has had some awesome performances this year," Head Coach Michelle Phalen said. "She has done a great job for us as a starter and coming off the bench in relief. Meghan is very deserving of this award and we are looking forward to her having a great outing at the Big East Tournament!"
Bostick (Colleyville, Texas/Grapevine) earned Pitcher of the Week honors after recording another career-low 0.00 ERA in 5.1 innings of action. In the two games Bostick appeared in, she struck out 10 batters, walked just two batters and gave up three hits.
Against Robert Morris, Bostick entered the game with a 3-2 count on a batter who had already recorded two home runs on the day. After a brief warm-up, Bostick threw a swinging strike for the out and saved two possible runs in that inning.
Bostick has fanned 114 opponents on the season, and is second overall on the all-time career strikeouts list with 452 total strikeouts.
Pitt will make its second-ever appearance in the Big East Championships this week, as the No. 7 seeded Panthers face No. 2 USF on Thursday, May 10, at 12:30 p.m. at the Belleville Softball Complex in South Bend, Ind.
