
PITT BASEBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO KENT STATE

KENT, Ohio - The Pitt baseball team (9-12, 3-3 Big East), dropped a 3-0 game at Kent State (10-13) Wednesday afternoon at Schoonover Stadium as the Golden Flashes broke a scoreless game open in the bottom of the sixth.
Right handed pitcher Ryan Dunford (SO/Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon) pitched 6.0 innings giving up two runs on three hits in the loss. Dunford struck out three and walked two, moving to 1-1 on the season.
The game was a pitcher's dual with just one hit for each team in the first four and a half innings. Sean Conley (JR/Chippewa, Pa./Blackhawk) singled to right in the third for Pitt's first hit and was left on base at the conclusion of the inning.
Kent State got on the board in the sixth inning, scoring two runs off a Greg Rohan double down the left field line. The Golden Flashes added their final run of the day on a Jason Patton single up the middle, driving in Jared Bartholomew from second.
Dan Lopez (FR/Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) picked up Pitt's second hit on the day in the eighth on a single through the right side.
Alan Morrison earned the win for Kent State on 5.0 innings of work giving up no runs on one hit, striking out three.
Pitt returns to action Friday, March 30 at 6 p.m. when Big East foe Notre Dame comes to town for a three-game series. Game time for Saturday is set for 3 p.m. and Sunday's game is scheduled for noon at Trees Field.
