MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Pitt volleyball team (10-2, 0-0 Big East) won a 3-0 set over cross-town rival Robert Morris (5-6, 0-0 Northeast) tonight. The Panthers out hit the Colonials .339 to .134. Tonight's win marked their 10th of the season and sets them up for their final tournament this weekend.
"I thought we played two solid games," said Head Coach Chris Beerman. "The third game we eased up a bit, and we needed more of a finish. But it was a good training experience for us, and we have two more days of practice before Chicago."
The team was led by freshman Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West). She contributed 21 of the team's points and had a career-high three solo blocks. Dooley additionally had 16 kills and a .522 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Diana Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) had a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. The Panthers got off to a 5-0 lead in game one with a couple of kills from Kern. A kill from Dooley and a block from Kern and Boroumand put the team at 29, and a kill by Andreyko clinched the victory, 30-20.
