Darrelle Revis Named a Thorpe Award Candidate

Pitt junior cornerback Darrelle Revis has been named to the 33-player "watch list" for the 2006 Thorpe Award, annually presented to the nation's top defensive back.

In addition to the Thorpe Award, Revis was earlier named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is presented to the nation's top defensive player.
The 6-foot, 200-pound corner has a rising national reputation after an outstanding 2005 season. He was the lone sophomore defender named first team All-Big East and also established himself as a dangerous return man.
Despite having opposing quarterbacks throw away from him, Revis paced Pitt with four interceptions and ranked 19th nationally with 1.18 passes defended per game. He additionally led the Big East with an 11.6-yard punt return average. His 79-yard return for a touchdown against
