On today's practices:
Well, we sure as heck didn't make any progress today in a couple areas of our football team. It was pretty evident that certain areas of our team did not come out here today with the desire to win. We've got to make sure that we don't get ahead of ourselves. We've got to make sure that we cover first things first and just putting guys on the field that are willing to be accountable and play with the desire it takes to win on every snap. For whatever reason, we didn't have enough of them today. For as well as we executed the last couple days on offense, I don't know where we were at today - hopefully not thinking about a few plays that we made in the scrimmage. I hope that wasn't the case. We'll get back to it tomorrow. Thank God we're still in training camp.
On Dorin Dickerson's practices today:
Dorin went full speed. We tackled this morning - two or three drills live, and he was involved in the live drills. I would say for his first day in full-speed action I thought he did okay. He ran up in there hard. He was banged around pretty good and broke some tackles. I was not disappointed at all in his first day.
On the defensive line rotation:
Based off the scrimmage Saturday, [Doug] Fulmer and [Joe] Clermond played the best so we let them work with the first group here today and tomorrow and see how that goes. We worked [John] Malecki a little bit with the first group this afternoon. That's going to be a constant massaging and maneuvering right on through the season. We got McKenzie Mathews some work in there a little bit with the first and second group. [Jason] Pinkston took some work with the first and second group, and I expect it to continue that way. Everything's based on performance. If we were playing today they [Fulmer and Clermond] would be [our starters at defensive end], but the other guys will play - [Chris] McKillop and Sallet would play.
On placekicker David Abdul:
David Abdul was not cleared medically. So unfortunately his football career at the
On the starting kicker:
Conor Lee is back and he said he could kick today if he had to. It would be right now obviously between Conor Lee and Danny Hutchins. Adam [Graessle] has been kicking. He was a pretty good field-goal kicker coming out [of high school], but right now we'll keep his attention on punting. We're going to get two opportunities to get down there and kick at Heinz Field. I'll put a lot of weight on those two evenings in my final determination of who's going to kick against
On Darrelle Revis:
[He'll be back] probably tomorrow. He's just about full speed, and he's doing some of the individual [work] and some of the rehab stuff. He's just about ready to go.
On the depth at fullback:
[Mark] Yezovich has been doing a better job than we thought. Some of those backs are interchangeable. Shane Brooks could play fullback. We could use some tight ends. We could go a couple of ways.
On the depth at tight end:
It might be [our strongest position on offense]. If you said in the last couple scrimmages what position made the most plays, it would probably be tight ends.
On receivers stepping up:
It's early yet, but T.J. [Porter's] doing a good job. For a young kid, I'm very pleased with the way he's progressed.
