PITTSBURGH - Junior gymnastics co-captain Andrea Arlotta will be featured in an upcoming episode of Panthers Weekly on FSN Pittsburgh. The episode will air Tuesday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) has had a standout season for the Panthers, competing as one of the top all-around performers in the EAGL conference. She was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week on February 14 and currently ranks among the top three competitors in the conference on the vault and uneven bars.
On February 24 and 25 at the Missouri Cat Classic, Arlotta was one of the most successful gymnasts that weekend among the four teams competing. She placed in three different events and captured second in the all-around. Her career highs include impressive marks on every event, including scores of 9.875 on vault, 9.850 on bars, 9.875 on beam, 9.9 on floor and 39.250 in the all-around.
Narrowly missing a trip to the NCAA Championships last season after an unprecedented fall on the balance beam, Arlotta and her coaches have high hopes of seeing her off to nationals this year. If she continues to compete as she has been, this goal is certainly within her reach. Former Panther Leila Tait was the last gymnast to represent Pitt at the NCAA Championships, qualifying last year on the balance beam where she finished 24th.
