The Red Storm got on the board early by scoring one run off two hits in the bottom of the first inning. Jim Martin doubled to left field and then scored on a P.J. Antoniato single to center.
Despite their efforts, the Panthers were unable to spark their offense and had only four hits and no runs in the game.
Anthony Varvaro picked up the win for the Red Storm, improving his record to 4-2 on the year. Varvaro allowed only four hits and struck out 17 batters. Craig Hansen got his fourth save of the season. Hansen did not allow any hits or runs and struck out one batter in the ninth inning.
Peter Parise led the Panthers with two hits.
