Pittsburgh-St. John's Baseball Doubleheader Postponed
4/2/2005
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh's baseball doubleheader with St. John's scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Queens has been postponed due to heavy rain in the New York area.
The Panthers and the Red Storm are scheduled to play on Sunday at noon in the series opener. The teams will play at least a single game tomorrow, and the series will conclude on Monday.
Pittsburgh is coming off back-to-back non-conference wins over Niagara and Kent State this past week and currently sit at 13-8 overall and 1-3 in Big East play.
St. John's is 11-9 overall and 1-1 in the conference after also posting a pair of victories this week over non-league foes (Columbia, Wagner).
St. John's leads the head-to-head series between the teams, 33-11, and has won six of the last seven meetings. The Red Storm took two of three games over Pittsburgh to close out the 2004 regular season and beat the Panthers, 4-2, in the BIG EAST Tournament.
