PITTSBURGH - Despite winning the first game, the Pitt volleyball team was defeated in four sets by host Connecticut on Friday evening, ending the Panthers' three-match winning streak.
The Panthers (16-10, 9-4 Big East) won the opening set, 30-25, but dropped the next three games by scores of 30-25, 30-27 and 30-28 to the Huskies (14-13, 6-7). The Panthers managed to hit just .107 but did hold UConn to a .168 clip defensively.

UConn had three players in double-digits in kills, led by Sarah Singer with 18 and four blocks. Kaity Craig had nine kills and 10 blocks, while Megan Crawley had 16 kills and 15 digs, and Heather Ashley chipped in with 12 kills.
Ashley Creighton (Brandon, Manitoba/Crocus Plains) had her third consecutive seven-block performance for the Panthers, a career-best for the sophomore middle hitter. Senior libero Megan McGrane (Muncie, Ind./Delta) had a team-best 23 digs to up her career total to 2,334, fourth most in NCAA history.
The Panthers will visit St. John's tomorrow evening in the team's final Big East regular-season contest before participating in the eight-team Big East Championships the following weekend in Louisville, Ky.
