Walt Harris Quotes
On offensive lineman Justin Belarski?s injury:
?He had back spasms.?
On offensive lineman Rob Frederick?s injury:
?It will be awhile (before he returns). It?s not day-to-day, it will be awhile.?
On offensive linemen Matt Maiers and Charles Spencer filling the voids on offensive line:
?Well, (Matt) Maiers has played one game and Spencer?s played zero. The offensive line is the second-most difficult position to play, other than quarterback. That?s makes me kind of nervous. They are both good kids and if they are both in the starting lineup, then that?s the guys we?re going to get. That?s the guys we?ll play with. We?re going to get it done.?
On giving the team off from conditioning:
?We?ve been working hard. We haven?t had hot weather, but our kids have worked hard. To me, that?s what?s important. That?s why we?re conditioned. We got a lot of guys who are overworked a little bit, so that?s another reason why we backed off the last period of scrimmage and didn?t condition today.?
On Wednesday?s scrimmage and who will participate:
?We?ll have to wait until we talk to the trainer. I don?t think anything can be decided until we talk to the trainer, see how many bodies that will be able to go full speed and scrimmage. We?ll play it by ear as we go.?
On starting preparation for
?We need to get ready for
On tomorrow?s scrimmage determining starting positions:
?Yep, tomorrow should tell. Hopefully someone separates themselves. The problem is if we have guys that can separate themselves, meaning if we have more than one at a position. Right now we are real, real thin at a lot of positions because of injuries.?
On defensive back Sam Bryant:
?I think he?s been hampered by a broken hand by a very freak thing in our strength tests. I can?t remember that ever happening. We tried to practice him and protect him. He has an orange shirt on to try and protect him. Of course, it?s difficult to try and block him because you don?t know whether to hit him very hard. He?s a good athlete and it?s time for him to really come together and be a player.?
