LORETTO, Pa.-The University of Pittsburgh completed a season sweep of St. Francis, 9-2, Tuesday afternoon.
Pittsburgh (19-28, 3-9 Big East) had a stellar day at the plate, recording 10 hits. Sophomore Francesca DiMaria (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) went 3-for-3 at the plate and connected on her seventh double of the season. With her first hit of the game, DiMaria became the seventh player with 100 career hits. She now has 102 hits in just two seasons.
Christa Hunter (Sacramento, Calif./Hiram Johnson West) also had a perfect day at the plate as she went 2-for-2 with two runs, including her fifth double of the season.
Heather Andrews (Zelienople, Pa./Riverside), Heather Connor (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), and Lisa McGregor (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford Senior) also recorded doubles in the Panthers? win.
On the mound, Laura Belardinelli (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) pitched the complete game, allowing six hits and two runs (one unearned), while walking five and striking out one.
The Panthers return home to face Canisius on Wednesday, April 28 for an afternoon doubleheader. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
