Nine Pittsburgh Gymnasts Named to EAGL All-Academic Team

Named to the EAGL All-Academic Team for a record fifth time was senior Lisa Yarosh (Seymour, Conn./Seymour). Yarosh is one of eight Panthers to hold the honor at least four times but Yarosh is now a rare five-time honoree after recieving an extra year of eligibility in 2004. Yarosh, an accounting/finance major, had the team?s highest GPA over the last two semesters, earning a 3.91 in her classes and is the third five-time honoree in EAGL history.
The seventh and eighth four-time honorees are seniors Marcy Blitz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Diandra O?Connor (Owasso, Okla./Owasso). Blitz, an accounting and marketing major, earned a 3.58 GPA, while O?Connor, majoring in neuroscience, had a 3.77 GPA.
Sarah Gibson (Montville, N.J./Montville Township) earned her third EAGL All-Academic Team honor after posting the team?s second-highest GPA of 3.84 in her rehabilitation science major. Four other Panthers earned their second All-Academic Team honor, including seniors Erika Goldberg (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) and Alyse Zeffiro (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem), junior Leila Tait (Naples, Fla./Pittsford Sutherland) and sophomore Roslyn Singleton (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township). Goldberg earned a 3.44 GPA in political science. Zeffiro, a sociology major, had a GPA of 3.2 for the last two semesters. Tait earned a 3.73 GPA in history and Singleton, an undeclared major, had the team?s third-highest GPA at 3.79.
The only first-time EAGL All-Academic Team member is freshman Robyn Marszalek (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg). Marszalek is a pre-medicine major and earned a GPA of 3.77 in her first year as a student at Pittsburgh.
In the nine-year history of the honor, 36 different Panthers haver earned EAGL All-Academic Team plaudits a total of 82 times. The 88 honorees this season match the totals of both 1999 and 2000.
