PROVIDENCE, RI? Seniors Wendy Hatlestad and April Puzauskas, along with junior Megan Miller, combined for 47 of the Panthers? 57 kills in a 3-0 victory over Providence College at Mullaney Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Pittsburgh made quick work of the host Friars defeating them 30-17, 30-13 and 30-23.
Miller (Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law) registered a match-high 19 kills while hitting .792 in 24 attempts for Pittsburgh (10-3). Puzauskas (Paulos Hills, Ill./Amos Alonzo Stagg) added 15 kills and hit .700 on 20 attmepts, while Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) notched 13 kills on 22 attempts for a .409 hitting percentage.
Providence (1-15) was led by Katie Fleming, who notched 10 kills on 25 total attacks for a team-high .360 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Lindsey Macke (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) registered 41 assists, while senior Sarah Rollman (Norfolk, Neb./Norfolk) notched a match-high 13 digs.
Pittsburgh returns to action Sunday afternoon as it travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass. for its first Big East match of the season against Boston College.
