Volleyball Wins Pittsburgh Classic With 3-0 Sweep of TCU

Pittsburgh (9-3) won the first two games by a score of 30-24, before winning the third and final frame, 30-23. Senior outside hitter Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) had 19 kills and just three errors in 43 attempts for a .372 hitting percentage, and chipped in 11 digs for a double-double. Hatlestad was named the tournament?s MVP with 58 kills and 31 digs in the three sweeps.
Also named to the All-Tournament Team for Pittsburgh were senior Sarah Rollman (Norfolk, Neb./Norfolk), who registered 12 kills, six digs and four blocks in the final contest and had 35 kills, 22 digs and 10 blocks for the tournament. Junior middle hitter Megan Miller (Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law) had 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage in the match against TCU and was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting 38 kills with just four errors in 77 attempts in the Pittsburgh Classic for a .442 hitting percentage.
TCU (10-3) was led by Anna Vaughn, who had 12 kills and a .688 hitting percentage in Saturday evening?s match. Vaughn was the Horned Frogs? representative on the All-Tournament Team. Joining the three Panthers and Vaughn were Northeastern?s Jana Kubalova and Kristin Ursillo, and Toledo?s Corrie Magnus.
Northeastern (6-6) finished second in the tournament after defeating Toledo, 3-0, in its final match. Toledo (4-8) finished 0-3 in the Pittsburgh Classic and placed fourth.
