On quarterback Rod Rutherford:
?I think he?s feeling OK. Until you get him into game preparation, I don?t think we?re really going to see who the real Rod Rutherford is this year. I think he?s working well, but I think as long as he has his ?red (practice) shirt? on, I don?t think we?ll really see who he is.?
On the scrimmage:
?Overall, I think the defense is ahead of the offense, which is usually what happens. I thought the offense was doing well, but they made some mistakes, some penalties. Right now, no one is good enough to make it in two downs. I thought the defense rushed the passer well. I was hoping we?d run a little better, but we try to keep some of the good guys out. When you take out three of the four best offensive players, that?s always a challenge. I thought it was competitive for our first scrimmage. Even though the defense was ahead of the offense, when the ball was down in the red zone they did a really nice job.?
