Coach Harris Reflects On The Seventh Day of Practice
8/17/2003
Walt Harris Quotes
On reserve quarterbacks:
?It?s still too early to say. I like how they come to practice everyday to try to get better, that?s what I like. They?re all into it and they work hard in their preparation. They appear to be very coachable and a good frame of mind. So we?re working day by day to get better.?
On quarterback Joe Flacco:
?He?s got raw talent. He?s smart and very intelligent in the classroom. He has a good attitude and is very hungry. He throws a good ball at times, but he?s very raw and has a lot of work to do. But he has a good attitude as well.?
On quarterback Rod Rutherford:
?Rod?s arm was sore today. I think that had an effect on how he threw the ball. Rod?s been doing well. He laid the ball off a lot more today which is smart when your arm is hurting. Even during a game move the ball around and make it harder on the defense knowing where you?re going to throw the ball. He?s improved. I think he?s running a lot better. He appears to be a lot faster and quicker than he has been. He?s doing a better job of squeezing the football.?
On the overall impression of camp:
?We?ve got too many guys missing practice. To me, you can?t build what you want to build when you have a lot of guys missing practice. That?s why we practice. To me it holds us back and slows us down.?
On center Justin Belarski:
?Justin has been around here and he is having a nice solid training camp and we hope he continues.?
