Walt Harris Quotes
Camp Day 4
August 15, 2003
On wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald?s Injury:
?It?s going to take awhile. Obviously we?re going to be intelligent on when he comes back. We?re going to be smart with that injury. Larry?s not going to get out of anything. We?re going to have to hold him back. Some guys you have to push, but we?re going to have to hold him back. Trainer Rob Blanc will have a lot to do with it. Larry probably thinks that he?s ready to run right now. We?ll have to hold him back until Rob feels he?s ready. With Larry?s injury we?ll error on the side of caution and we?ll take a couple of extra days.?
On Larry Fitzgerald?s rehabilitation:
?Larry went through rehabilitation today and some form of conditioning. He did the climber.?
On the receivers:
?With Larry?s injury, as long as it is not nagging or permanent, it?s an opportunity for us to see who?s going to step up and give those other guys more reps. I?m looking for leadership out of that group now that Larry?s not there.?
On tight end Erik Gill?s injury:
?Erik has a calf problem. I don?t think anyone knows how long it?s going to be. It didn?t swell as much as we fearing. Hopefully, he?ll be back in a couple of days.?
On the offensive line:
?A lot of guys got banged up today on the offensive line. I don?t know what happened to Justin (Belarski) except that he had ice on his eye socket.?
On wide receiver Kennard Cox:
?Kennard played quarterback last year. He?s got a chance. He?s a Cox. I don?t know if he is as quick as Torrie. Right now he?s feeling his way through everything. He likes football. All of the Coxes like football. And he?s a kid from Miami and takes great pride in the game. He?s done a nice job. We?ll see how he does.?
On linebacker Lewis Moore:
?Lewis has really stepped up. He did an outstanding job at summer school. That was one of my challenges to him. He?s dominating right now on the football field. He?s getting in the position to play linebacker right where we always thought he could. He?s a really good athlete and could be dominating football player like Gerald was.?
On running back Brandon Miree:
?He?s stepping up. He?s being a good football player that we want and the leader that we want. Running back can?t get it done if he can?t get through the line. We?ve got to do a better job of blocking and those guys have to stay healthy so we can practice them.?
