Carolyne Savini Finishes 33rd in 100 Backstroke at NCAA Championships

AUBURN, Ala. ? Junior swimmer Carolyne Savini finished 33rd in the 100 backstroke preliminaries this afternoon at the NCAA Championships, held at Auburn University.
Savini (Egg Harbour Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) finished with a time of 55.98 seconds, which was about a half-second off of her school-record time set in this year's Big East Championships in February.
Yesterday, she finished 36th in the 200 IM prelims and will compete in the 200 backstroke tomorrow. Savini was the third-place finisher from the Big East Conference in today's swim, coming in behind Danielle Hulick of Notre Dame (24th, 55.03) and Kelly Harrigan of Rutgers (26th, 55.16).
Kirsty Coventry of Auburn had the morning's top time in the 100 back, touching the wall in 52.89 seconds.
