Baseball Earns Honorable Mention for 2003 Recruiting Class

The 2003 recruiting class of the Panthers was one of five Big East teams to earn recognition.
PITTSBURGH?The 2003 Pittsburgh Baseball recruiting class earned Honorable Mention Honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper?s 21st annual breakdown of top NCAA Division I baseball recruiting classes.
Head coach Joe Jordano?s Panthers coming off of back-to-back 36 win seasons, are looking to return to the Big East tournament for the first time since 2000. Pittsburgh is one of five Big East schools that received recognition.
In the 2003 class, the Panthers added seven pitchers, three infielders, one outfielder and a catcher. Joining Pittsburgh are LHP Mike Bassage (Hornell, N.Y.), RHP Ryan Devlin (Chambersburg, Pa.), RHP John Hay (Poland, Ohio), RHP Billy Keyes (Hagerstown, Md.), OF Tony Marciante (Connellsville, Pa.), RHP Paul Nardozzi (Victor, N.Y.), INF Jim Negrych (Buffalo, N.Y.), C Peter Parise (Bronx, N.Y.), INF Peter Perry (Greensburg, Pa.), INF Edgard Sucre (Miami, Fl.), RHP Matt Tokarczyk (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and LHP David Wagner (Johnstown, Pa.)
Pittsburgh opens its 2004 season at New Orleans on Feb. 20-22.
