Pittsburgh Baseball Announces Summer Youth Camps and Clinics
5/4/2002
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh baseball coaching staff will host two Diamond Baseball Camps and Clinics summer sessions for players ages 6-17 at the University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus.
The first camp will be held June 22-26 and is open to campers ages 8-17. The second session will be held July 13-17 and is open to campers ages 6-12. Both camps cost $105 and are held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at Trees Field.
The camps, which feature instructors from six professional organizations highlighted by Guy Conti, Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach; Dave Wallace, assistant general manager of the New York Mets and former Los Angeles Dodgers' pitching coach; Tony Dougherty, Cleveland Indians' pitcher; and Chris Snusz, Philadelphia Phillies' catcher, will primary be taught by Pittsburgh Head Coach Joe Jordano and assistant coaches Joel Dombkowski and Lou Schaper.
"The Diamond Baseball Camps and Clinics are simply a great opportunity for youths to be exposed to great baseball instruction by professional as well as collegiate instructors in outstanding Division I facilities while having a great time," Jordano said. "No other organization in the area can boast this combination."
There are six different session formats, including specialized youth camps for youngsters ages 6-12. Camps can be scheduled at satellite locations, and individualized instruction for players not yet enrolled in ninth grade is available. Rates vary per camp, and team and group rates are available.
