Pittsburgh Defeats Youngstown State, 4-1
5/14/2002
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh baseball team overcame cold weather to defeat Youngstown State, 4-1, Tuesday night at Trees Field. The Panthers improved to 33-15-1 overall while the Penguins dropped to 17-24.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the first inning, Pittsburgh quickly tallied two runs to take a lead it would never relinguish. The Panthers scored their first run as Brant Colamarino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) hit a sacrifice fly that scored Tony Railing (Highland Village, Texas/F.M. Marcus). Two batters later, Rolando Bello (Miami, Fla./Nova Southeastern) roped a run-scoring triple down the right field line, proving to be the game-winner.
