Men's Swimming Adds Two For 2003-04 Season
12/9/2002
PITTSBURGH ? Head Coach Chuck Knoles has announced the signing of Nathan McCutcheon and Jeff Leath for the 2003-04 season. The two early recruits for swimming are "prized athletes" according to Knoles.
McCutcheon (Apollo, Pa./Kiski School) is a three-time Independent Private School League champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. He has also qualified for the USA Swimming Nationals in the 1650 freestyle.
"As a dominant local and regional swimmer, Nathan will bring a great deal of depth to the program in the freestyle events in everything from the 100 to the 1650," Knoles said.
Leath (Mechanicsville, Va./New Community School) is an up-and-coming backstroker who also swims for the Poseidon Swim Club. He is 6-foot-5 and won the Eastern II 2002 Speedo Champ Series in the 200 backstroke.
"I believe Jeff will be a breakout swimmer in his freshman year and will more than likely be a USA Swimming National Qualifier by the end of this academic year," Knoles said.
The men's team is currently ranked 18th in the country by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.
