Seventy Pittsburgh Student-Athletes Earn Big East Academic Accolades

PITTSBURGH - Seventy student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh have been named to the 1999-2000 Big East Academic All-Star Team for outstanding performance in the classroom and on the field of play. It marks the largest class of Pittsburgh honorees in the history of the award.
To receive Big East Academic All-Star honors, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average during the academic year (both semesters), participate in a Big East sport and have earned a varsity letter.
"At the University of Pittsburgh, we strive to produce well-rounded student-athletes who are champions in the classroom and in the athletic arena," said Pittsburgh athletic director Steve Pederson. "These individuals who have earned Big East Academic All-Star honors personify that commitment and we are very proud of their accomplishments."
