Pittsburgh Drops Decision to No. 12 Virginia

Pittsburgh - The Pittsburgh women's swimming and diving team (3-5/1-2) hosted 12th-ranked Virginia at Trees Pool. The Cavaliers (4-0) won nine events to claim a 132-109 victory.
The Panther divers took 1-2 on both the one- and three-meter boards. Jen O'Brien (Verone, Pa./Penn Hills) won the 1-meter with a score of 275.93 and the 3-meter with a score of 269.18. Teammate Moreen O'Brien (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) placed second in both with scores of 242.70 and 268.43, respectively.
Katie Hunter (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) also claimed a first-place finish, posting a time of 24.31 to win the 50 free. The senior was also the anchor on the 400 medley relay (3:58.06) and the 400 free relay (3:32.36).
Five Panthers claimed runner-up finishes, including Emily Colley (Pace, Fla./Pace) in the 1,000 free (10:18.33), Amanda Lyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) in the 200 free (1:54.50), Lindsay Weaverling (Lansing, Mich./Leavenworth) in the 100 free (53.30), Karen Thibodeau (Waterloo, Ontario/Bluevale Collegiate) in the 200 back (2:09.72) and Ryan Redman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) in the 200 breast (2:25.13).
