Panthers Take 3-0 Win Over St. Francis (Pa.)

PITTSBURGGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team recorded its 15th win of the season with a 3-0 sweep victory over visiting St. Francis (Pa.) tonight at Fitzgerald Field House.
Pittsburgh native and junior Heather Haff was flawless in the victory with her superb .714 hitting percentage with 10 kills on 14 attempts with zero errors. She also added three digs, an ace and a block assist to her effort.
As a team, Pittsburgh hit .408 in the match, its second-best attack percentage of the season. The Panthers had 52 kills on 98 attempts with 12 errors in the win.
The Panthers opened the match with a 15-7 win in game one. They continued to dominate the match and sealed the win with a 15-5 victory in game two and 15-2 win in game three.
Seniors Marcia Thiesen (Chatham, Ontario/John MacGregor) and Stacy Renick (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) also performed well, each posting nine kills. Thiesen also added seven digs while Renick had one solo block and one block assist. Sophomore setter Carrie Norris (Fostoria, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) added 40 assists in the win.
Pittsburgh's record stands at 15-6 overall and 2-2 in the Big East Conference. The Panthers return to action this weekend when they compete in the SMS/Mary Jo Wynn Invitational.
