Softball Loses Two Games against Kent

The University of Pittsburgh softball team suffered losses, 9-1 and 7-0, in a doubleheader with Kent, April 8.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Kent opened the scoring in the first and held a 2-0 lead after two innings, while the Panthers remained scoreless. Kent added six more runs in the third off four hits to go ahead 8-0.
Pittsburgh recorded their only run of the game in the fourth when pitcher Laura LeViere (Pittsburgh, Pa./Northgate) crossed the plate. LeViere singled to reach first and advanced to second on an error at centerfield. LeViere recorded her first steal of the season to take third and scored on firstbaseman Jen Mannick's (Waymart, Pa./Western Wayne) single.
Pittsburgh lost to the Golden Flashes in the second game of the doubleheader. Kent held a 7-0 lead through the top of the seventh with two outs when the game was then called due to inclement weather.
The game remained scoreless through 2 1/2 innings of play, until the Panthers surrendered four runs from five hits in the third.
The Panthers were unable to recover, and allowed three more runs in the remaining innings for the Kent victory.
Pittsburgh plays its final games of the season this week in doubleheaders at Youngstown State Tuesday, April 14, at St. Francis (Pa.) Thursday, April 16 and Cleveland State Saturday, April18.
