Wendy Meyers has been an invaluable and versatile Pitt Athletics administrator for nearly two decades. Meyers presently serves as Deputy Athletic Director for Human Resources. In this capacity, she impacts virtually every aspect of Pitt Athletics, which employs more than 250 staff members and coaches.
A former student-athlete herself, Meyers’ experiences as a three-time All-America swimmer at UNLV inspired her impressive career path and make her an asset for Pitt’s entire department.
Meyers serves on the Mental Health Task Force and Executive Compliance Committee for Pitt Athletics. She is a board member for Panthers United, which works to promote an environment of inclusion for Pitt student-athletes, coaches and staff through education and dialogue. Meyers additionally leads the department’s professional development programs.
From an institutional perspective, Meyers is a key contributor to the University’s Human Resources Advisory Committee and Human Resources Business Partner Steering Committee. She also serves on the Chancellor’s Committee on Accessibility and Inclusion. A well-known and widely respected administrator in the Pitt community, Meyers is an indispensable resource for university constituents, fostering productive collaborations across campus. With her great institutional knowledge, Pitt enlisted her to serve on two athletic director search committees.
Meyers was honored within the Athletic Department by her peers in 2024 by being awarded the “Gold Standard Leader of the Year” for exemplary leadership and service.
Her influence reaches well beyond Pitt. Meyers served two terms on the swimming and diving committee for the Atlantic Coast Conference, widely considered the sport’s premier collegiate conference. She previously served on the ACC’s Financial Sub-Committee and the Football Bowl Financial Review Committee.
Meyers’ collaborations with the ACC are a natural given her pivotal role in Pitt’s transition to the league in 2013. Her planning efforts were vital in helping Pitt’s 19 sports programs and various support areas assess needs and establish a financial framework to help position the Panthers for success in their new conference home.
Meyers initially joined Pitt in 2006 as Associate Athletic Director for Business, Finance and Personnel, overseeing all business functions, equipment, human resources, and information technology. Over the ensuing decade, she would move into a series of increasingly elevated roles, including Executive Associate Athletic Director, Chief Financial Officer, Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), and Sport Administrator.
Prior to Pitt, Meyers worked at her alma mater, UNLV, where her oversight included business operations, human resources, scholarships, facilities, game operations, equipment, ticket operations, Rebel Pride (retail merchandising), contractual agreements, Title IX compliance, strategic and financial planning, the trade agreement program as well as department policies and procedures.
Meyers was appointed to two Presidential committees at UNLV, the President’s Planning Council and the President’s Initiatives Review Committee. She was part of two athletic director search committees at UNLV as well.
Meyers earned her bachelor’s degree in social work and master’s degree in education from UNLV. She earned a master’s degree in law from the University of Pittsburgh.
A four-year swimming letter winner at UNLV, she achieved All-America status in three events: the 400 individual medley, 200 backstroke and 400 medley relay. Meyers competed in four events at the 1988 Olympic Trials.
Meyers is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, serves on an Occupational Advisory Committee for Pittsburgh Public Schools and remains active in the sport of swimming, holding USA swimming coach and officiating status, while volunteering for an area swim club.
A native of El Cajon, Calif. (but born in Allentown, PA), the former Wendy Hoffman and her husband, Walt, have four children: Samantha, Walter lll, Jacob and Mackenzie.

Rockefeller, and "There is always a solution or an opportunity – always keep your mind open, and your life and the lives of others will be so much better." -author unknown.
