Zachary Makosey joined the University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics in April of 2023 as the Coordinator of Human Resources. In this role, Makosey assists with new hires, all-temps, student employment, Pitt Sports Camps, parking, mandatory clearances, mandatory trainings, and much more.
Prior to joining the University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics, Makosey worked at Zihmer Law Firm, LLC, where he served as one of the firm’s primary Paralegals. During his time at Zihmer Law Firm, LLC, he specialized in trust and estate planning, trust and estate administration, tax preparation, real estate, and business matters.
Makosey graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2020, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology focused in Business/Public Administration. He also graduated from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2021, where he obtained a Certificate in Paralegal Studies. Currently, Makosey is enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law, where he is working to obtain a Master of Studies in Law with a Specialization in Human Resources Law.
An Elizabeth Township, PA native, Makosey currently resides in Oakland.

I love the Cathedral of Learning for its stunning Gothic architecture, which stands as a symbol of both academic excellence, and cultural heritage. The interior spaces, especially the Nationality Rooms, celebrate global diversity and creativity, making it an incredibly unique place to explore. Additionally, its central role in the University of Pittsburgh fosters a vibrant intellectual community that inspires both students and visitors alike.
What is your favorite thing to do in the City of Pittsburgh?
My favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh is to catch a game, whether it is the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, or anything associated with the University of Pittsburgh. The atmosphere in the stadiums filled with passionate fans always creates an unforgettable experience. I love the city’s rich sports culture, and the sense of community that comes with rooting for our teams.
