Michael Fisher was promoted to assistant coach for the University of Pittsburgh volleyball program in March of 2025 after serving as director of operations and volunteer assistant coach.

Served a large role in the serve receive and defense units for the Panthers.

Managed the day-to-day operations for the Panthers.
Helped Pitt to its fourth consecutive NCAA Division I Final Four.
Clinched the outright ACC Championship, the fourth consecutive season in which Pitt has shared or won an outright title.
Pitt advanced to the NCAA Regional Final for the fifth consecutive season.
The Panthers competed in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive season.

2023

2022

The Panthers appeared in the NCAA Elite Eight for the third straight season.

“Michael has a background as a high-level player and is excited to transition into a coaching role,” head coach Dan Fisher said. “He’s passionate about training the game and is eager to learn. He has a big arm and a great last name and we’re excited to get him into the gym.”

Michael is a two-time graduate of Saint Francis University with a bachelor’s degree in finance (2020) and an MBA (2021). The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native competed for the Red Flash men’s volleyball team for four years and garnered all-conference honors each season. A 6-foot-4 outside hitter, Michael led the Red Flash in total kills for three consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021). He became the first in program history to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honors twice in his career, receiving Honorable Mentions in 2019 and 2021.

In addition to his endeavors as a student-athlete, Michael was a three-year member of the SFU Investment Club and coached Red Flash camps between 2016 and 2020. Since the fall of 2021 he has served as head coach of the Yorktown 15 Blue Boys club team, and additionally served as a volunteer assistant coach at Central Daulphin High School in Harrisburg, Pa.

Dan and Michael Fisher are unrelated, despite sharing a last name.

Fisher is a native of Mechanicsburg, PA. Currently residing in Pittsburgh (South Side Slopes). Personal interests include art, history, general modern culture, outdoor activities, flea markets and farmers markets.
