Kiera Molloy joined the Pitt Athletics team as the Lead Mental Health Counselor in April 2024. In her role, Molloy is focused on working with Student Athletes to address mental health concerns, enhance mental resilience, and improve overall well-being. She provides individual and group therapy services, as well as consults with athletic department staff and coaches, and develops psychoeducational and outreach programming.
Prior to her move to Pittsburgh in 2023, Molloy was a founding member of a mental health and wellness start-up clinic in Charleston, South Carolina. Her graduate training and professional experience has spanned diverse settings and populations as she gained experience working with eating disorders, trauma, OCD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, etc. Molloy also brings experience from clinical research settings, working on developing mental health treatments in the Duke Behavioral Health and Technology Lab, Duke Cancer Institute, and National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at Medical University of South Carolina.
Molloy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Global Health at Duke University. During her time as a Blue Devil, she served as Captain of the Varsity Swim Team, held multiple team records, earned All-ACC Academic Accolades, served as an ACC SAAC Representative, and started the Duke University Chapter of Athlete Ally. Molloy then earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University.
Molloy grew up in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina and is originally from Brooklyn, New York.
