Long arrives at Pitt for the 2026-27 campaign after spending one season at Charleston, where he helped lead the Cougars to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Prior to Charleston, Long served as head coach of the Mississippi College, guiding the program to two winning seasons and three conference tournament appearances over five years.
He previously held a head coaching role at Arkansas-Monticello (2019-20), where he led the team to a 20-11 record and the program's best start since 1977. The Boll Weevils reached 20 wins for the first time in over a decade with Long at the helm.
From 2015-2019, Long was the associate head coach at the University of Central Arkansas, helping the Bears compile a 91-37 record and capture four Southland Conference Tournament titles. The program also recorded three 25-win seasons and advanced to the WBI Championship game in 2018.
Long began his collegiate coaching career at Delta State (2010-12), where he helped the Lady Statesmen to a 50-11 record, two conference titles and consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. The 2010-11 team spent seven weeks ranked No. 1 nationally and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament that season.
Long, a Delta State alumnus, and his wife, Jill, have two children, Aubree and Clay.
