Ellen Morrison began working at the University of Pittsburgh in March of 1996 as a receptionist for the Dean of Dental Medicine before moving over to the Department of Athletics in the fall of 1998.
Morrison plays a vital role in the organization, scheduling and management of the athletic department in her current role as Administrative Assistant for the Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer. Morrison also provides administrative assistance to the Facilities, Marketing and Ticketing departments.
A North Huntingdon, Pa., native, Morrison lives there with her husband, Rick. The couple has three children and five grandchildren.
Beyond the Bio
What is one thing everyone should do when they visit the city of Pittsburgh?
Ride the incline to Mt. Washington – the view of the city is spectacular. Also, walk the campus and look at the architect of the buildings and the landscaping it is truly beautiful.
Favorite sports moment at Pitt?
The last football game vs. Notre Dame in Pitt Stadium.
Favorite Quote?
“It’s not so much what we have in this life that matters. It’s what we do with what we have.” – Mister Rogers
What do you love most about working in athletics?
When you feel that coming to work is not a job but something you look forward to, that has a lot to say about the people you work with.
Hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, watching grandchildren play sports, traveling, working on puzzles and reading.
