Duvante Lane was named Assistant Athletic Director for Major Gifts at the University of Pittsburgh in May of 2026, bringing nearly a decade of collegiate athletics fundraising and operations experience to the Panthers.
In his role, Lane leads major gift strategy for Pitt Athletics, identifying, cultivating and soliciting principal donors in support of scholarships, facilities, student-athlete development and program-specific funding priorities.
Lane joins Pitt from the University of Colorado, where he served as Director of Development for Major Gifts. During his tenure with the Buffaloes, he secured more than $1.5 million in new gift commitments, managed a high-value major gift portfolio with 140-plus strategic donor meetings annually, and led regional fundraising strategies across Chicago, Houston and the Great Lakes. He also served as the fundraising liaison to the men's golf program and partnered with cross-campus stakeholders to align institutional priorities and donor engagement.
Prior to Colorado, Lane spent nearly two years as Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts at the University of Louisville, where he generated more than $350,000 in one-time cash gifts to support Name, Image and Likeness opportunities for student-athletes while educating donors on the evolving college athletics landscape. He directed cultivation and solicitation strategies for 250 major gift prospects, executed 20-30 personalized donor touchpoints weekly and implemented regional development efforts across Indiana, Western Kentucky and North Carolina. He also generated more than $100,000 in premium seat and suite sales for football and men's basketball.
Lane previously served as Director of Leadership Giving at the University of Memphis from 2022-23, where he secured more than $500,000 in new major gifts in support of scholarships, capital improvements and AD discretionary funds through the athletics leadership giving society. He managed a portfolio of 250 prospects, played a key role in a comprehensive rebranding of the development office, built and launched sport-specific giving programs to empower coaching staffs, and managed a car dealer program with more than 10 dealerships that secured 30-plus vehicles for coaches and senior administrators.
Lane's athletics career also includes stops as Assistant Director of Business Operations at the University of Maryland (2021-22), Compliance and Business Operations Graduate Assistant at the University of Indianapolis (2020-21), Development Assistant with the Tennessee Fund at the University of Tennessee (2019-20) and Marketing and Development Assistant with the Bulldog Club at Butler University (2017-19).
Lane earned his Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Indianapolis in 2021. He completed his undergraduate studies at Butler University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement and Health Science Education in 2017.
