Chelsea Cameron joined the University of Pittsburgh in September of 2021 as a Learning Specialist and Academic Coordinator for the Peer Academic Coaching program. She serves students across all sports teams in developing skills in time management, academic strategies, and self-regulation. She is also the department liaison to Disability Resource Services.
Cameron is an educator, coach, and researcher by training. As an educational psychologist, she has conducted research to develop interventions to improve student learning and self-regulation at the collegiate level, working across disciplines. She has knowledge and skill sets in program evaluation, measurement design, and learning principles.
In 2018, Cameron accepted a position at Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA), where she taught United States history and Advanced Placement Psychology, was Grade 12 Dean, and the Head Coach for girls' field hockey and lacrosse teams. She coached the lacrosse program to 4 WPIAL playoff appearances and 2 State AAA playoff appearances, including the program's first State AAA Semifinal appearance in program history in 2021.
Cameron continues to use these skills and experiences on a daily basis to serve students at Pitt. In 2023, Cameron launched the H.A.I.L. program to assist new student athletes in finding success and belonging at Pitt. Additionally, she stays involved in the classroom, teaching part-time in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.
A 2011 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Honors in Educational Psychology from Penn State's Schreyer Honors College, Cameron was a starter and captain of the Penn State Women's Club Lacrosse team and served as a manager of the Penn State Women's Varsity Lacrosse program. She went on to complete a M.S. in Educational Psychology (2015) and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (2018).
Cameron is a Wexford, PA native and avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

Favorite place on the University of Pittsburgh campus?
The Cathedral of Learning as it is a an iconic building of Pitt and also the place I decided I wanted to be a teacher on a school "career day" field trip.
What do you love most about working in Pitt's athletic department?
I love the opportunity to serve students on a daily basis in the journey to fulfilling their fullest potential as a student, athlete, and person.
Hobbies outside of work?
I am an ultra-endurance athlete and triathlete. I also enjoy spending time outdoors in nature hiking, running, or paddling.
