In 2016 Sandler completed a year of providing analytical data to Major League Baseball as a video scout for Baseball Info Solutions. He regularly uses his analytical knowledge learned from BIS to help the Pitt Baseball and Softball programs generate scouting reports for upcoming opponents.
Sandler is a 2015 graduate of Towson University with a degree in sport management. During his time at Towson, he worked for the media relations department for all four years of his under graduate studies.
Sandler is a native of Baltimore, Md., and currently resides in Baldwin, Pa.
Beyond the Bio
Favorite sports moment at Pitt?
Filming from centerfield during McKayla Taylor’s walk-off grand slam in the 2018 ACC tournament quarterfinals vs. Virginia Tech.
What is your favorite aspect of working in Pitt’s athletic department?
I get the opportunity to work with several different sports so the job is always changing depending on which teams are in season. Also working right next to my best friend Ian Fulkerson.
Favorite quote?
“If you will it, it is no dream.” - Theodor Herzl
Hobbies outside of work?
When I’m not at work I really enjoy golfing with friends. I have also been known to obsessively break down Baltimore Ravens game film using the “all 22” angles. I always tell people that I want to be prepared in case Eric DeCosta (Ravens GM) needs my help for any reason. It also may surprise people that I am very passionate about cooking at home and even strongly considered culinary school before deciding to follow a career in the athletics industry.
