Funk has been an integral part of the rise of Pitt Gymnastics. She was promoted to associate head coach in April of 2026 following her third season on the Pitt coaching staff. Pitt's uneven bars team saw great success under Funk's guidance during the 2026 campaign as Hallie Copperwheat, Jaime Pratt and Camryn Chiu all qualified for NCAA Championships on the event. The Panthers finished the season with a No. 27 Road to Nationals (RTN) ranking on uneven bars. The bars team enjoyed a historic performance against West Virginia and Illinois State in the regular season finale and final meet in the Fitzgerald Field House, recording a 49.325. This ranks fourth in program history and is the teams' highest bars score in three years.
She came to Pitt after helping guide the Central Michigan Chippewas to their second straight Mid-American Conference Championship title, while two gymnasts advanced to NCAA Regional competition as individuals.
Before accepting her assistant coach position at Central Michigan, Funk served as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater Michigan for two years (2021-22). Funk teamed with associate head coach Scott Sherman and fellow assistant Maile'ana Kanewa-Hermelyn in earning the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Assistant Coaches of the Year Award in 2021 as the Wolverines won their first national title. The trio earned the Regional Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2022.
During her career at Michigan, Funk was named an All-American on the balance beam in the 2019 season and was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree. Funk was an instrumental part of the Wolverines success in her four-year career, helping the team to three Big Ten Championships and four consecutive Big Ten regular season championships, while also leading the team to two NCAA Championship appearances in 2017 and 2019.
Funk served as a team captain during her final two seasons as a Wolverine, was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and was named a WCGA Scholastic All-American.
The Aurora, Ill. native holds two bachelor of arts degrees from Michigan with majors in communication and media studies and Spanish.
