Vincent Williams was named Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Pitt Men’s Basketball program in July of 2022. He joined the program after spending the 2021-22 season as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Philadelphia 76ers.
In his role, Williams oversees all athletic performance-related efforts for the Pitt basketball program, including strength and conditioning as well as individualized training programs. He also works closely with the medical teams on development rehabilitation plans and with Pitt’s nutritionist to create comprehensive nutritional plans for the team.
Williams was the Director of Basketball Performance at Rhode Island during the 2020-21 season. He worked directly with the men's basketball program, as well as men's golf and women's tennis, during his one year with the Rams.
Williams joined the Rhode Island staff following a two-year stint with the NBA's Washington Wizards, where he worked with the Wizards and Capital City Go-Go of the G League. As the Director of Player Preparation from October of 2018 through June of 2020, he oversaw in-season and offseason programming, pre-draft workouts, player visits, player development strategies and summer league coverage.
During his two seasons with the Go-Go, Williams worked with eight players who signed NBA contracts and two players – Jordan McRae and Chris Chiozza – who earned All-NBA G League recognition.
Before working with the Wizards' organization, Williams was the Director of Basketball Performance at Coppin State from August of 2017 through October of 2018. While there, he oversaw training and conditioning for the men's and women's basketball programs.
Williams earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Towson in 2011 and completed a master's degree in Applied Exercise Science/Strength and Conditioning from Concordia University Chicago in the Fall of 2021.
He is a registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC) and also holds certifications in applied functional science (CAFS), and as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
