2020: Recipient of the 2020 Burlsworth Trophy, annually presented to the most outstanding player in college football who began his career as a walk-on…earned All-ACC for the third consecutive year…was a first-team All-ACC pick by Associated Press…received second-team honors from the official ACC coaches and media panel…completed his fourth season as the Panthers’ starting center…totaled 47 starts for his career, including all 11 contests in 2020…all but one of his career starting assignments—the Oct. 10 game at Boson College—came at center…started at right guard against Boston College due to injuries up front…surrendered only two sacks over his final two seasons…selected a team captain for the second consecutive year…National Football Foundation William V. 2019: Established himself as the top center in the ACC…was a vital figure in Pitt's transition to a heavier pass attack by providing air-tight protection...did not surrender a sack the entire season and also rated as the Panthers' top run blocker…first team All-ACC…three-time Pro Football Focus ACC Team of the Week honoree (UCF, Syracuse and Miami)…started all 13 contests...selected one of three Pitt team captains…named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team for the third consecutive season.
2018: An All-ACC selection (third team) at center, becoming the first Pitt player at that position to earn such distinction…started the year’s initial 11 games before sustaining a season-ending injury in the waning moments of the Panthers’ 34-13 victory at Wake Forest (Nov. 17)…the injury halted his streak of 23 consecutive starts on Pitt’s offensive line…honored as the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against Virginia Tech, a 52-22 win in which the Panthers’ rolled up a school-record 654 total yards (492 on the ground)…named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team for the second consecutive season.

PERSONAL: James David Morrissey IV, born 6/9/98, is the son of Jim and Shivaun Morrissey...has two sisters...earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing…enrolled in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business...was a member of Pitt’s prestigious Blue & Gold Society, an undergraduate organization composed of top students who serve as ambassadors for the university and Pitt Alumni Association.
