2023: Played in four games, starting the final two contests of the year (Boston College and at Duke)...completed 41-of-62 passes (66%) for 595 yards with four touchdowns and one interception on the year...was a catalyst in Pitt's 24-16 win over Boston College, accounting for 231 total yards and two touchdowns…threw for 207 yards and a TD on 11-of-19 passing…his four-yard touchdown run gave Pitt a 10-3 lead with 9:07 left in the second quarter…for the game, he netted 24 yards on five carries (both career highs) with the TD…Pitt seized a 17-13 lead with 7:22 left in the third when Yarnell connected with Bub Means on a 61-yard touchdown pass and the Panthers would not surrender the lead for the rest of the contest…in the regular-season finale at Duke, threw for 265 yards on 25-of-35 passing with one touchdown and one INT…his yardage, attempts, completions and TD pass total all marked career highs.
2022: Played in two games, making one start (at Western Michigan)…completed 71% of his passes (10 of 14) for 195 yards and a touchdown on the year…starting assignment at Western Michigan occurred when the Panthers’ top two signal-callers, Kedon Slovis and Nick Patti, were out due to injury…helped direct the Panthers to a 34-13 win, throwing for 179 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-12 passing (75%)…named the ACC Rookie of the Week for his Western Michigan performance…other game action came against UCLA in the Sun Bowl…when Patti exited the game late in the first half due to a minor injury, Yarnell came on for two plays, completing 1-of-2 passes for 16 yards.
2021: Enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh in January 2021 following his early graduation from Lake Travis and participated in spring drills…did not play in any games and redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rated one of the country’s top 25 pro-style quarterback prospects by 247Sports…was sidelined as a senior due to injury…his junior season, posted a 6-0 record as Lake Travis’ starter, coming on in relief for a key stretch when senior starter Hudson Card (a 2020 Texas Longhorns signee) was out due to injury…in those starting assignments, averaged 208 yards passing and threw 11 TDs while completing 67% of his attempts…on the year, Yarnell completed 68% of his passes for 1,501 yards and 17 touchdowns…played under Coach Hank Carter.
PERSONAL: Is the son of William Yarnell and Brande Teis and the stepson of Christina Yarnell…has three brothers…earned his bachelor's degree in political science.
