Sam Wheatley joined the University of Pittsburgh Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes staff in August of 2021 as an Academic Counselor for Football. Prior to her arrival at Pitt, Wheatley was an Academic Coordinator for Football at East Carolina University from 2019-2021, and an Assistant Academic Counselor for Football at the University of Minnesota from 2018-2019.
Wheatley received her Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2017. She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati in 2018. During her time at Cincinnati, Wheatley spent four years as a member of the Women’s Swimming and Diving team. She received several American Athletic Conference honors, and served as a team captain during the 2017-2018 season.
While competing as a student-athlete at UC, Wheatley was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Cincinnati Center for Community Engagement, an intern in the Student-Athlete Support Services office and a student worker in the Athletics Communications department. Wheatley also served as a Vice President for SAAC and was the President of the Student-Athlete Community Engagement Committee.
A native of Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania, Wheatley now resides in Edgewood.

Favorite sports moment at Pitt?
Pitt Football beating Virginia in overtime in the pouring rain during the 2021 season leading to us securing the ACC Coastal Division title a week and a half later.
Favorite quote?

Hobbies outside of work?
Swimming, listening to audiobooks, watching literally all of the sports, spending as much time as humanly possible in the sun and exploring Pittsburgh for the best cheeseburger.
