Parker Showers enters his fourth season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Pitt football.
Prior to joining the Panthers in 2022, Showers spent two seasons as an assistant strength coach at Boston College (2020-21). Following the 2021 season, the Eagles earned a Military Bowl invitation.
In 2019, he served as the associate director of strength and conditioning at Mississippi State, which advanced to that year’s Music City Bowl.
From 2015-19, Showers was on the strength and conditioning staff at the University of Cincinnati. During his tenure, he was elevated to associate director for football performance. The 2018 Bearcats finished 11-2, including a 35-31 win over Virginia Tech in the Military Bowl, and placed No. 23 in the final USA Today Coaches Poll.
Showers additionally served as Cincinnati’s head strength coach for tennis, men’s soccer and cheer.
During the 2014 season, he was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the football program at Akron, where he earned his master's degree in exercise physiology.
His initial coaching appointment was at Villanova (2013), where he worked with football and men’s lacrosse. Showers additionally oversaw the training for track and field, swimming and diving, softball, water polo, tennis and cheer.
A 2013 graduate of Lycoming College with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Showers was an All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) running back and kick returner for the Warriors’ football team. He went on to earn a master’s degree in exercise physiology from Akron.
Showers and his wife Amy have two daughters, Teagan and Rowan Jane.
He is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in addition to the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
