- Defensive Quality Control
Mike Fuhrman serves as Pitt Football’s defensive quality control coach.
Fuhrman joined the Panthers’ staff in 2025 and works with the cornerbacks. In his role, he creates opponent and self-scout cut-ups, assists with the breakdown of pass concepts and tendencies, helps direct scout team skill players, and supports in-game communication and signal identification.
Prior to Pitt, Fuhrman spent the 2024 season at Brown University as a defensive quality control coach working with the safeties. He helped build practice scripts and scout cards, produced weekly reports, completed opponent offensive breakdowns and self-scout work, and communicated adjustments from the press box on game day.
Fuhrman previously coached at Duquesne University (2022–24) as the outside linebackers coach, where he led the position group’s meetings and individual periods while organizing scout teams and contributing to opponent breakdown. His additional coaching experience includes stops at Westminster (linebackers/co-special teams coordinator), Robert Morris (assistant offensive line) and Tiffin (tight ends/assistant offensive line).
A former Division I student-athlete, Fuhrman was a long snapper at Penn State from 2008–12 and was recognized as a 2012 team captain vs. Iowa and the program’s Walk-On of the Year. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Penn State and completed graduate coursework in MBA Leadership at Tiffin University.
