Mark Pennington enters his second year as assistant director of football operations at Pitt.
Pennington arrived in Pittsburgh in 2023 already familiar with the Atlantic Coast Conference having served the prior three years at the University of North Carolina.
He worked in football operations for the Tar Heels during the 2021-22 seasons. Prior to his experience with the football program, Pennington assisted with event management for the overall athletics department.
A native of Destin, Fla., he is a 2020 graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. While an undergraduate, Pennington was a business office intern in the Gators’ athletic department.
His additional experience includes operations internships with the University of West Florida (2019) and Cardinal Mooney (Fla.) High School. He also served on the operations staff for the 2019 NCAA Division II Softball Championships held in Pensacola, Fla.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree from Florida, Pennington also owns a master’s degree from North Carolina in exercise and sport science.
