Chris Russell enters his first season as an offensive assistant for Pitt football.
Russell is no stranger to the Panthers having served the program as a volunteer assistant during the 2023 season.
Prior to his Pitt association, Russell coached the running backs and tight ends at Seton Hill University (2021-22). Under his tutelage, Logan Wiland was one of the most productive running backs in all of college football during the 2021 campaign. Wiland rushed for 1,236 yards to lead the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and rank 14th nationally.
Russell’s additional coaching experience includes two years at Connellsville Area High School, where he worked with the running backs and defensive backs. He also served as head junior varsity coach.
Russell himself played running back at Marietta College. He completed his bachelor’s degree in biological engineering at Penn State in 2019 and also earned a master’s degree in education from Seton Hill in 2023.
