2016: Played in all 13 games, starting 12 at cornerback...team's second-leading tackler with 79 stops...tied for team lead with eight PBUs...finished second on the team with two interceptions...Lewis' INTs were both in the end zone and keyed two of the Panthers' biggest wins of the season...with Penn State threatening at the Pitt 31 with 1:15 to play, Lewis intercepted a pass by Trace McSorley in the end zone, ending the drive and sealing Pitt's 42-39 win...was named the Jim Thorpe Player of the Week and ACC Defensive Back of the Week for his performance against the Nittany Lions...in the Panthers' 43-42 win at Clemson, Lewis halted the Tigers' opening drive by picking off Deshaun Watson with a leaping grab in the corner of the end zone...twice had a career-high 10 tackles (Virginia Tech and Syracuse)...had a four-yard sack (the first of his career) vs. Duke...selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

PERSONAL: William Ryan Lewis, born 4/15/94, is the son of Will and Kimmberly Lewis...has two brothers and one sister...father played cornerback at Millersville University before going on to a pro career with the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, USFL's Houston Gamblers as well as the Canadian Football League...Will Lewis also served 12 years in the Seahawks' front office and is presently the director of pro scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs...Ryan is the nephew of former Pitt cornerback Tim Lewis (1979-82), a first-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers who has gone on to an extensive career as an assistant coach in the NFL...has three cousins who played football at Pitt: safety Louis Riddick (1987-90), who played six years in the NFL and is now an analyst for ESPN; cornerback Ian Riddick (2000-01); and linebacker Tristan Roberts (2007-11)...graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication.
