Robbie Agnone is a rangy and athletic tight end prospect...enters his first active season following a redshirt in 2004...an all-star quarterback in high school, Agnone provided Pitt with an additional practice arm last year when attrition hit the QB position...worked at tight end exclusively this past spring and displayed good pass-catching ability and eye-catching overall improvement...'I believe Robbie made the most progress of anyone from the first day of spring ball right up to its conclusion,' tight ends coach Greg Gattuso said. 'He already is a very capable receiver and is working hard on his blocking skills. He is continually improving in his understanding of the position and that will allow him to help us.'
2004: Redshirted as a true freshman.
High School: Played quarterback as a senior at Red Land High, passing for 1,490 yards and 13 touchdowns...first-team All-Mid Penn Commonwealth Division selection at quarterback...honorable mention all-state...started at receiver as a junior and had 30 receptions for 429 yards (14.3 avg.) and eight touchdowns...played under Coach Frank Gay...earned three football letters...also a basketball standout and had scholarship offers in that sport as well...four-year basketball letterman...two-time 'Big 15' honoree in basketball.
Personal: Robert Victor Agnone, born 10/2/85, is the son of Rob and Laurie Agnone...has one brother and one sister...enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
