2024: Enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh in January 2024 following his transfer from Kansas State…started all 13 games at defensive end…compiled 22 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, three pass breakups and a forced fumble…had a season-high three tackles in five different games…recorded a sack in each of Pitt’s first three contests (Kent State, Cincinnati and West Virginia)…named to the Pro Football Focus (PFF) ACC Team of the Week for his performance against California, when his stout play up front helped limit the Bears to 63 rush yards on 40 carries...named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team.
AT KANSAS STATE (2020-23): Played in 39 games, making seven starts at defensive end for the Wildcats…totaled 39 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a blocked kick over three active seasons…achieved career highs in 2023 with 7.5 TFLs and four sacks…did not play in any games in 2020, taking redshirt…two-time first team Academic All-Big 12.
HIGH SCHOOL: A first-team all-state performer at Olathe East under Coach Jesse Owen…rated one of the top 10 overall prospects in the state of Kansas by ESPN (No. 5), 247Sports (No. 6) and Rivals (No. 7)…rated a national top-40 weakside defensive end by 247Sports (No. 32) and Rivals (No. 39)…selected to paly in the Kansas Shrine Bowl.
PERSONAL: Son of Paul and Amy Matlack...has one brother…earned his bachelor's degree in personal financial management from Kansas State.
