Taylor Hughes enters her second season as the Pitt football program’s dietitian. In this important capacity, she provides nutritional education and counseling for the Panthers during their year-round training and competitive regimens.
Hughes was a highly impactful and visible figure in her debut season with the Pitt football program, which coincided with the Panthers’ first ACC championship.
Hughes joined Pitt after spending five years (2016-20) at the University of Oregon. Initially a dietetic intern, she elevated to a full-time capacity in her second year with the Ducks, earning increasing responsibilities from both a team and departmental standpoint.
Hughes worked directly with three different Oregon programs (football, softball and acrobatics and tumbling). She additionally gained department oversight of fuel station management, ordering, student intern development and tailored nutritional programing for individual teams.
Hughes fueled the Ducks football team through four bowl game appearances, including a victory in the 2020 Rose Bowl, and back-to-back Pac-12 championships. In her three seasons working with softball, the Ducks won a Pac-12 title and twice advanced to the Women's College World Series.
Hughes earned her bachelor’s degree in human movement and health science education from Butler University in 2013. She went on to earn a master’s degree in dietetics in 2015 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she also completed her dietetic internship.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Hughes is a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
