R.J. Goodwin, a former collegiate linebacker and team captain, enters his second season as a recruiting analyst with the Pitt football program.
As part of Pitt’s recruiting office, Goodwin is involved in the Panthers’ year-round recruiting regimens and communications.
Prior to his Pittsburgh arrival, Goodwin was a defensive graduate assistant for Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. He had a positional focus on the Bears’ defensive backs. The NCAA Division II program advanced to the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) championship game during its 2021 spring campaign.
During the 2019 season, Goodwin served as a linebackers coach and video coordinator at Ohio’s Wilmington College, which competes in the ultra-competitive NCAA Division III Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
Goodwin was an accomplished linebacker at Notre Dame College, where he was a three-year starter and two-time team captain. He twice garnered All-Mountain East Conference (MEC) honors.
As a senior, he helped lead the Falcons to a 13-1 record, the MEC championship and the semifinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs. He finished his career ranking second in program history in solo tackles (110) and fourth in total stops (197).
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Goodwin was a prep standout at LaSalle High School.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Notre Dame College in 2018.
